Family Seasonal Celebrations for 2023
Growing and cooking food to share is a big part of what we do at the PLOT 22 community allotment and has proved popular with families over the years. So we’re excited to be able to offer these seasonal celebrations in 2023. Our seasonal celebrations will be around the time of the solstices and equinoxes and the traditional pastoral festivals that fall in between: Imbolc (Candlemas), Spring Equinox (Ostara), Beltane (May eve), Summer Solstice (Litha),Lughnasadh (Lammas), Autumn Equinox (Mabon), Samhain and Yule/Winter Solstice.
Running from 10am til 2pm, together we’ll harvest, prepare, cook and eat a seasonal meal around the fire. There may also be some light gardening jobs to do around the plot and a seasonal nature discovery activity.
Jennie will send out the date and details of each upcoming session by email well in advance. Space is limited (8 families in total) so booking is essential and on a first come first served basis. We will run a waiting list and ask that you cancel as far in advance as possible so we can ensure all the spaces are filled on the day. In order to give as many families as possible the opportunity to attend, those who haven't made it onto the session will be given priority to attend the next one.
Thanks to grant from the National Lottery Communities fund we are able to offer these sessions for FREE. Donations will help us continue to run beyond this grant, so if you can afford it please do make a donation in cash on the day or securely online here: Donate
UPDATE (March 2023) These sessions are now over-subscribed and to avoid disappointment we’ve closed the enquiry form.
