A warm welcome

On volunteer days or funded sessions we'll gather together at the start of a session over a cup of tea or coffee for introductions and catching up. We'll take a walk around the site and work out what gardening jobs need doing and match these with peoples preferences that day. There's no pressure and no previous gardening experience required – there will always be something you can do to make a difference. If lunch is planned about halfway through the session we prepare and eat a meal, using freshly harvested produce whenever we can. Then we'll clear-up together and share the story of what has been done. People often take home a bunch of flowers or fresh herbs and if there are fruit and vegetables to spare they take some of these too.

PLOT 22 is a shared experience, yet everyone is unique. To help us look after ourselves and each other as we garden together we ask that you observe our Way of Being. As a new person arriving at PLOT 22 we also like to give you a little card inviting you to look after yourself by:

New People

when you arrive we like to give you a little card that invites you to look after yourself by:

choosing how often you come along

choosing how long you stay

choosing activities that suit you

choosing how sociable you want to be

choosing what you talk about

choosing how you contribute to the communal meal

If you like it here and want to come back we will ask you to complete a short volunteer registration form, so that we have your emergency contact details, just in case. Find out more about how we look after each other at PLOT 22.

Other good things to know before you come

We have great composting toilet facilities on site and all gardening tools and gloves are provided. On family friendly days children (especially those under five) need to be supervised closely by a parent or carer at all times. Dogs are welcome at PLOT 22 but we ask that you check with us first. You may need to keep them on the lead.

It is essential to contact us first by phone or email before you come for practical reasons and so we can look forward to meeting you!

To keep up date between visits you can join our mailing list and receive a monthly newsletter with the latest PLOT 22 news.
