Tuesday Gardening

Tuesdays are the day when everyone can come to Plot 22. Tuesday sessions focus on maintaining the Plot’s gardens, and we also cook and share a plant-based lunch together, using many of the ingredients we’ve grown ourselves.

Everyone is welcome to join us for part or all of the day. If you’ve not visited before, Tuesdays are a great way to get a practical and literal taste of what Plot 22 is all about!

Tuesdays are open to all adults. No previous experience of gardening is necessary, just an interest in participating and contributing to the tending of this community garden. There are many ways to contribute and the sessions are supportive and lightly facilitated.

If you’ve not visited Plot 22 yet but would like to get involved, you can register your interest in joining our community here

The Nature of Poetry

These new seasonal poetry sessions are facilitated by Lynne Christine Ridden an art/eco psychotherapist, poet and trustee of plot 22. She describes her work as simply elemental, creatively supporting ways to find balance and natural rhythm as we move through the cycle of the seasons, the spring, summer, autumn and winter of our lives. Each workshop stands alone however attending each session will allow for a deeper experience of journeying together around the wheel of the year as we share favourite poems related to each season. There will also be quiet time in each session allowing the opportunity for your own poetry to emerge inspired by the natural beauty of Plot 22.

Foraging Walk & Talk - with Craig Jordan-Baker

This foraging talk-and-walk around the plot is suitable for beginners and will link land, leaf, history and language together to show that foraging is about food and more. You will have the opportunity to try a variety of seasonal vegetables and herbs and we will discuss the features of common edibles so you can apply your knowledge when out and about.

Led by writer and academic Dr Craig Jordan-Baker, Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Brighton.

Thyme & Space

Thyme & Space is replenishing group for women, offering an opportunity to build friendships, new skills and confidence through gardening and sharing a vegetarian meal together.  These supportive and lightly facilitated sessions offer a place where we can set aside our daily challenges and enjoy a connection with nature through activities like sowing, digging, planting, weeding, harvesting, or just sitting and enjoying the wildlife. No previous experience of gardening is needed. We welcome new women to come and spend time at PLOT 22 and share in the positive experience it has on our wellbeing.

“No pressure to talk or do anything that makes me feel uncomfortable."

"I really enjoyed the session at PLOT 22. I normally find group things difficult but wanted to stay for longer as it’s so peaceful there."

Growing Together

Growing Together welcomes people who enjoy gentler garden and nature related activities, within a group that aims to foster friendship, mutual care and connection. The group is dementia inclusive and also welcomes friends and carers. No prior experience of gardening is needed. Our hope for the group is that we will enjoy quality time together while completing gentle, seasonal tasks. During our time together we will also enjoy a seasonal snack and a hot (or cold) drink or two!

The group meets twice a month on Wednesday mornings, from 10:30 to 12:30, typically on the second or fourth Wednesday of each month. Currently, guests are invited to attend once a month.

Participants are welcome to join the group alone or with a companion if they require care and support. In such cases, the companion will provide full support throughout the session.
