Comfort Words, a pathway to nature on Saturday 2nd July 10-12noon

£10.00

Explore the power of words to capture connection with nature.

During our time together we will:

  • Look at the the five pathways to nature connection (as featured in The Nature Connection Handbook published by University of Derby)

  • Consider the power of words to act as a connection to nature, and as a portal into nature (even if we are not physically close to nature)

  • Share examples of nature writing (prose, poetry and lyrics) that help us to connect with nature, thinking about what they mean to us and how they make us feel

  • Try some simple nature inspired creative writing exercises

  • Enjoy some quiet time noticing and connecting with nature

If you would like, do bring a poem or piece of writing relating to nature to share with the group.

The workshop will be run by creative facilitator Charlotte Evans, friend of PLOT 22, and co-founder of Dementia Inclusive Gardening. Since completing a Bibliotherapy Masters which explored the power of fiction as therapy, Charlotte has been developing 'Comfort Words' resources and workshops to encourage people to identify, capture and share the words that comfort, nourish, and sustain them. The first bibliotherapy workshop Charlotte ran was a session called 'Chicken Soup for the Ears' at The Wellcome Collection.
