Growing Together welcomes older people, people living with dementia, and carers. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or new to growing, our hope for the group is that we will enjoy quality time together while completing gentle, seasonal gardening tasks. During our time together we will also prepare and enjoy a seasonal snack.
The group meets twice a month on Wednesday mornings, from 10:30 to 12:30, typically on the second or fourth Wednesday of each month. Each session welcomes up to six participants, along with two session hosts and one or more group volunteers. Currently, guests are invited to attend once a month.
Participants are welcome to join the group alone or with a companion if they require care and support. In such cases, the companion will provide full support throughout the session.

What our community say
Val “….loves the Growing Together sessions. We really notice a difference when she comes back from a session. She is smiley and relaxed…She returns with a posy, a Lavender bag or something else she has enjoyed picking or making. Thank you for all you do”
"Singing brings Claire such joy and happiness. I’m sure she would have been thrilled that you asked her to sing. Her tears are often happy tears. Over recent months it’s been tough going working with Claire but today after your session she was a different woman! Thank you as always for a wonderful morning"
“Growing Together is a very valuable time for me to be with my Mum. Thanks!”
'“Working with Claire she reminds me to savour with her the smallest of things that bring us pleasure, to live in the moment and appreciate the beautiful world we live in. We watch the busiest of bees on the lavender bush, take in its beautiful scent, try to name and the flowers as we walk together. Every time I see Claire she reminds me of the wonderful group we go to with the most charming of people. Plot 22 has to be the highlight of her week and of course mine too”.
‘Claire lives with dementia, is partially sighted & has hearing loss so does not find it easy in big groups. However she says about all her visits to GT that she loves “the friendly, smiling faces and feeling part of such a delightful group. I don’t mind not always hearing & seeing everything. I just enjoy being here & being in all your company” Claire’s mobility is limited but she always walks up the track & around the Plot. The distance seems less because her “mind is on all that’s around me”
