Are you making the most of the sunshine? The plants at Plot 22 certainly are, they’re feeling a little thirsty right now!

This next activity is perfect for the summer holidays: try pressing flowers and creating a handmade card for a friend. It’s a beautiful way to share the joy of nature.

Frida’s guide to Pressing Flowers

  • This is what you will need: Flowers, white tissue paper (2 x A4), 2 x pieces flat cardboard (A4), a stack of heavy books, glue

  • Pick your flowers - try to pick your flowers early in the morning so they aren't too wet. Check they are not wilted or damaged. Then take a piece of cardboard, put a piece of tissue paper on top and arrange your flowers - make sure the flowers aren't overlapping.

  • Carefully place another piece of tissue paper on top and then add another layer of cardboard on top of this. Press firmly down.

  • Weigh down with a stack of heavy books and leave somewhere safe. Leave your flowers to dry for at least 2 weeks.
